Plus, how to make an anti-inflammatory spiced chickpea dish.
The Well+Good team has tried basically every style of Cariuma’s shoes available, so believe me when I say: we love them. And, while the brand’s eco-friendly kicks are definitely worth paying full price for, we certainly wouldn’t say no to a pair of Cariuma’s on sale, especially at half off. Luckily, that’s exactly what’s going down with the Cariuma Archive Event, now through June 17th. The sale is exclusive, but don’t worry—you know somebody (moi!) who can get you in. All you have to do is visit their dedicated Archive Event page and use the code ARCHIVEACCESS to shop some of their fan-favorite sneakers (and backpacks) for 50 percent off. Now pick your jaw up off the floor and get to shopping, because it is an archive sale. That means that once these style are gone, they’re retired for good!

What is Cariuma?
Cariuma is a Brazilian-based footwear brand known for their ultra-comfortable sneaks made with sustainably-sourced materials like cork, bamboo, and sugarcane. They offer a variety of sneakers and boots, and often collab with brands (like Pantone, National Geographic, and Marie Kondo’s KonMari) to create unique patterns. Whether you rock a floral print or prefer basic black, there’s a Cariuma sneaker for you.
Other eco-wins for those keeping score at home: Cariuma is a certified B Corp (which means they meet rigorous standards for their business and social practices) and boasts certifications from the Forest Stewardship Council, Leather Working Group, and Global Recycling Standard. They also partner with reforestation organizations in the Brazilian rainforest to plant two new trees for every pair of shoes sold. We love to see it.

I trotted all over Portugal in 90 degree heat wearing these canvas sneakers and my feet didn’t complain once. The NAIOCA style features a supportive and springy cork insole with just enough arch support. The breathable upper is made with organic cotton canvas, while the sole is designed from ethically-sourced rubber. Plus, they’re versatile enough to pair with shorts or a summery dress.

Not a fan of laces? This slip-on style brings everything we love about Cariuma’s organic cotton canvas sneakers, in a cool skater-boi design. The stretchy elastic on the tongue makes them super easy to slip on and off, and the padded heel makes them oh-so-comfortable. You’ll find this style on sale in basic colors like white, black, or pink, as well as more funky patterns like leopard or polka dot.

As the name implies, the OCA low is a lower-profile sneaker. It uses the same organic cotton canvas upper as the above styles, but adds a protective (and cute!) rubber toe cap and cool, debossed metal lace aglets (aka the holes the laces go through). Plus, unlike other low-cut sneakers, the padded heel helps prevent blisters. Snag it in this unique and versatile sand color before it’s gone!

For a chunkier (yet not heavy) style, check out the Catiba Pro Low. It has real skate shoe vibes, but still prioritizes the bouncy support and breathable canvas upper we know and love in Cariuma’s sneakers. And, unlike the styles above, this design adds responsibly-sourced suede for an added touch of style. Heads up: there are less color options on sale for the Catibas, so they’ll go fast!

Need a new backpack? This is the one. Cariuma’s backpack is made with certified recycled materials and has no shortage of useful pockets and compartments. It fits laptops up to 17 inches and features a front zippered pocket, interior pockets, a front strap, and a water bottle side pouch. Choose from staple colors like black, navy, and grey, or branch out with their rose, Bordeaux, and military green colors. And, best of all, Cariuma plants a tree for every backpack they sell!
